Brutus Bone Broth is a really a story about love—the love of a grandmother for her dog by way of the delicious homemade broth she made for him every time he came over. Nourishing and delicious, this simple act of love became the vision of this family (two sisters) who saw how bone broth could help all dogs lead healthier, happier lives. Enter NEO—dog lovers themselves, who jumped at the opportunity to create a unique pet food brand in an already crowded market. NEO’s challenge was simple: capture the spirit of Brutus (a 13 year old large breed dog), the health benefits, and the community-driven ethos of the product into a brand that does good by delivering naturally delicious bone broth to all pets while giving a portion of all proceeds back to help homeless animals.

Using Brutus’ lovable mug as the inspiration, a system of drawings, icons, colors and typography was developed to support the product mission of providing nutrition to all pets while giving back to the community.
LOGOMARK & IDENTITY SYSTEM
The logomark took shape organically through a conversation between NEO and the client: capture Brutus’ vitality and happy demeanor with a hand-drawn caricature. This bright yellow seal is the identifying mark and visual anchor for all Brutus marketing materials and premium items.

Creating a recognizable and memorable brand was essential; and even more so when it’s competing for shelf space in an already crowded market. All the packaging was designed to impart quality and trust in Brutus Bone Broth.
